Bristol Water became a Fairtrade workplace following an employee suggestion.
Patric Bulmer, Chair of Bristol Water's Environmental Committee explains: "To us it was simply a no-brainer. Following the original employee suggestion, our initial impression was that it would be difficult and make life more complicated if we added Fairtrade alongside our existing catering arrangements. But when we looked at it, it was a simple one-off decision to offer Fairtrade drinks to our staff and visitors. We still offer a choice, but more people tend go for the Fairtrade option.
"We hope that this will lead to a knock-on effect of people choosing Fairtrade when they do their own shopping," concludes Patric. They are now in the process of expanding their Fairtrade offer to include chocolates and snacks.
