Fairtrade Fortnight Challenge for Shops and Cafes

Create an eye-catching display in your store and win a FREE feature in the 2008 Bristol Fairtrade Directory and on this website!

With Fairtrade Fortnight just around the corner, we’re asking you to help us make Fairtrade the talk of the town.

As a reward to the most effective publicity, we’re offering prizes to the winners and two runners-up. The winners receive a free one-page feature in the 2008 Bristol Fairtrade Directory, plus a free feature on our website. The winners and two runners up will all be presented with framed certificates celebrating their achievement.

What you need to do:

We're challenging you to create the most eye-catching, attention-grabbing Fairtrade display in your shop or café. If you act now, you may just have time to order materials, from leaflets and posters to FAIRTRADE Mark bunting and inflatable bananas! To order, go to: http://www.fairtrade.org.uk/get_involved_fairtrade_fortnight_2007.htm

Even better, use your own creativity and imagination to design a publicity grabbing display based around the FAIRTRADE Mark. For example, in 2005 Brian Wogan coffee erected a huge hoarding above their premises on a main road into Bristol, getting the Fairtrade message to thousands of commuters. The challenge is to think creatively!

How to enter
  • Sign up below to tell us you are entering the competition.
  • We will deliver copies of the all-new 2007 Bristol Fairtrade Directory to you, plus the leaflet listing local events, for you to stock alongside your Fairtrade Fortnight display.
  • Tell us about your own events too, and we’ll add them to the online events listing.
How it will be judged
  • The competition will be highlighted in Venue Magazine w/c 21 Feb and readers will be invited to nominate the best display via our web site.
  • On Thursday 8th March, between 10 am and 4 pm, a Bristol Fairtrade Network member will arrive to see your display and photograph it.
  • Judging will be by a panel of Bristol Fairtrade Network and Venue. The number of votes gathered via the website will decide any tiebreaker.
  • The winner will be the display judged to be both the most imaginative and the most effective in communicating the benefits of Fairtrade products.
